If it wasn't for that nasty by-product I'd support Nuclear all the way. I do find it interesting that the French seem to have little issue with Nuclear power. I'd really like to see all the hydro plants we can safely remove disappear (along with coal). Of course we have towns that have sprung up down stream in many cases that blossomed due to a controlled flow of water that no longer threatened them with unexpected flooding.

I remember as a kid visiting Trojan Nuclear Plant, everyone thought it would help save Oregon and the river. Didn't quite work out though.
