no doubt Syria is a wretched place under socialist dictatorship...and, as is well known in neo-con circles, not only Israel's biggest enemy in the region, but also a complete push-over militarily. defeating Syria's rag-tag army would be even easier then defeating Saddam's. i have therefore elected Syria for the top spot on my 'wag the dog' list for the '04 election. the initial gambit ( 'Iraq's WMD's must be in Syria' ) appears to have failed, i.e. didn't convince anyone. so a new method is tried...Israel attacks Syrian territory...after all, who knows, the Syrians may try to do something rash like defending themselves. if they don't fall for it, another pretext will have to be found...decisions, decisions. pity they don't have any oil btw., but so what. what difference would it make to occupy not only Iraq, but Syria as well? that would make a lot of people happy btw. - not only the incumbent contenders in the '04 election, but also Sharon's outfit, and not to forget, the Islamic militants. OBL would be overjoyed to have another apostate removed from power in the ME, plus the 'holy war' would widen to a broader front. a jihadist's wet dream. just as Sharon and Hamas need each other, so do the neocons in Washington DC and OBL need each other, as justifications for permanent war. with apologies to the colaterally damaged.

"she'll perform some wild sex act on putin. she'll say there'll be more when she's prez. that ought to get him to sacrifice euros for dollars. <g> " ?????

I think the US will defend its status with all their might and can exert considerable pressure, economic and political, and is not alone in trying to preserve the status quo. They may not ultimately succeed, but I expect serious horse trading to occur.

You're above statement is a ridiculous reply to a serious question.
