Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Xybernaut Deploy Jointly Developed Maintenance Toolkit Friday October 10, 9:27 am ET Technology Solution For Inspection, Maintenance and Repair; Trial Roll-out Begins With Internal MHI Deployments
FAIRFAX, Va. & TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2003-- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Xybernaut® Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR - News) today announced commencement of the trial roll-out of their jointly developed Mobile Maintenance and Inspection System (MMIS) toolkit for structured inspection, maintenance and repair across numerous industries and applications. The MMIS toolkit, which incorporates Xybernaut wearable computing technologies, will initially be deployed in three of MHI's primary business units in Japan.
Xybernaut and MHI also announced plans to expand the capabilities of the MMIS toolkit to incorporate other MHI business unit requirements. The companies will utilize the toolkit within additional MHI business units to combine each unit's requirements with MHI's standard approach to inspection and maintenance.
MHI produces over seven hundred products ranging from nuclear power and incineration facilities to aircraft. Xybernaut and MHI believe that the MMIS will have broad appeal for both companies' client bases.
