HI Brian,

Consider these numbers - they have a negative spin to them - wonder why??

Amat's Y over Y sales down 23% and earnings should come in @ .05 Q3.03 vs .09 a year ago?

Nvls sales dwn 5% YoY and earnings breakeven vs. .11 a year ago. Not real rosy

Lam sales down 6% and earnings up to .03 vs.02 on YoY basis

Klac - the MOMO leader Sales down 15% YoY, but earnings will come in at .17 this year vs .23 last year. This relative good performance in a quarter that is historically their worst.

In all of the cases earnings will be off and yet price has been up recently.

With this type of cost containment resulting from "rightsizing",all the market needs to hear is Quoting activity is up - recent backlog growth has been improving or stronger.

IF we get that - the 98 effect will take over.

Anticipation will prevail.

JMHO

These guys have gotten themselves lean and future orders will amaze most with the levergaed capabilities.
