Well, some of Jesus's disciples were sharp, educated men. Matthew was a tax gatherer. He had to have a good education and also be a sharp fellow to do that job. Luke was a doctor. We know that means he had one of the best education's that could be had. I'm sure that Jesus had many very smart, educated followers. But they had faith as a child too. They were honest and sincere, and had a love of the truth.
