Let me reiterate, it could have turned out badly with a tiny minority shooing in a radical (of any ilk) into the office. The mechanism is flawed in that way. Heck Geode00, the flawed mechanism gave us Gov. Blackout Goofus Davis. He was allowed to use his money to get the far right candidate for the GOP nominated (Simon) by campaigning against the moderate GOP candidate (Riordon) who could have beaten him in the last election. The FLAWED system is what gave us Davis. A WORKING system booted him out AND gave as a social liberal but economic conservative which is EXACTLY what the majority of us in CA wanted all along.
