Nobody put him there. He put himself there.

I have given plenty of credence to that. I was among the first to suggest that this wasn't the best choice of a line of work for Mojo. However, I respect his right to proceed in his own way, however foolish. I don't think it makes sense for the government to be his nanny or anyone else's by taking the initiative to prohibit him from pursuing his conscience. I also expect him to take the consequences like a man if he gets in trouble for his poor judgment.

It's a statement of principle that individuals are primarily responsible for what they do with their lives and for having the primary responsibility of getting themselves out of the messes they hve gotten themselves in.

You'll get no argument from me on that.

EDIT: I think the basic difference between us is that you want to restrain him and I want to give him plenty of rope, and if he hangs, he hangs.

"It's as though ...

No it isn't as though any of these things...if it were the argument would be different. I don't know why you refuse to argue the issue on the basis that it is presented but creating strawmen to argue is dishonorable. These are all false analogies and irrelevent to determining the validity of the mojo scenario.

"You appear to be accepting the scenario as a given, so that there is nothing to do but either accede to Mojo's sensitivities or violate them. I'm suggesting that he knowingly created this situation and it's not society's job to bend its rules to get him out of it until he has FIRST done all he reasonably can on his own to get out of it. Which means finding another profession."

Moverover...to train and create such a career with knowledge aforehand and THEN to ask for his discrimination to be accomodated is just too dismissive and cocky...
