Rowan: Food Lion layed off, Freightliner layed off, Textile mills closed. 6% to 12%. I know of no new business or factory moving here, or already here increasing staff. Does no one travel and actually look around at the communities just outside of the major metro areas? So you think the mountain counties like Watauga, in the heart of Applachia, actually have 1.5% unemployment? Where the latest census data shows 18% living below the proverty level? And that data was from boom year 2000. Wonder what the % is now?
