Oh, I freely admit to being a manipulator. I consider the ability to manage discussion a talent that is to be prized, and I am always striving to improve. As long as one is ethical, I see nothing wrong in using one's skill and insight to "move things along". That was one of things I found odd about the contretemps over my comments...... siliconinvestor.com However, people often chafe at the perception of being managed, and manipulation is often heavy- handed and not quite ethical....... That is, we act and speak often to influence the course of events, mainly through the impression we expect to make on others. We dress to convey an impression, whether of seriousness or sexuality; we seek to learn how to behave in a congenial manner, to avoid unnecessary offense and gain goodwill; and we learn something of persuasion in speech, in order to put forward our best case.
