Oh and then they have to be mainstreamed also. We have one in our district that is strapped to his chair and is totally unable to communicate nor will he ever be able to. He is on a ventilator and requires round the clock nursing. So what happens? School district has to buy a specially equipped van to transport him and hire a nurse to monitor him all day, etc., etc., so that he can sit in the back of the room drooling on himself. I feel awful for the kid and his parents but have never in my life seen such an incredible waste of tax dollars.
