They sold the war in Iraq on the fears of 9-11. Not the real reasons for going to war.

The real reasons were to finish the job of removing Saddam, though I think that there were alternatives to the war which would have done that. The oil. And to establish a democracy in the heart of the middle east. None of these policy issues were made public, because they would not sit well with the Americans and the world at large.
