Dear Bum:

I suppose you noticed that Peter Lynch owns 8% of ABP?

ABraxas is a name I looked at a year ago (to buy the bonds at huge discount). My DD told me that the co. would either BK or restructure. It did the latter but, that hasn't changed the fact that, IMO, the assets aren't worth the debt and if I recall correctly, they need something on the order of $5 NG just to break even.
As far as I'm concerned, this one is an accident waiting for a place to happen, eventually.

dabum (ABP),

They've stopped hemorrhaging cash at alarming rates, but they're still bleeding, and appear to be breaking even at something slightly less than $5 gas. Which is where the price of gas will be above for this winter, IMO.

Still, it could be early days in a turnaround - there definitely seems to be some adult supervision guiding the way forward. They bought the company plane from Watson last summer (then immediately sold it), and have been steadily chipping away at long term debt.

The Aug 14 10-Q quarterly is one of the most revolting displays of bowing and scraping I've ever seen - it reads like a detention essay. (More adult supervision)

jim_p usually is pretty savvy about these types of store front outfits, maybe he will grace us with his opinion, if they have changed from this past spring ("be careful...")

I wouldn't stop being careful, but I see what you mean about the charts - someone's taking an interest.

<OT> How 'bout them BoSox? Emptied the dugouts, roughed up the former manager, closed all the beer stands, and lost the game. All the makings of a fine, high sports tragedy in the great Irish tradition, to be fondly recounted for years in every tavern in the South End.

I used to cut school, take the train in, and sit in the bleachers to watch the Yaz, Petrocelli, George Scott and the rest, Jim Lonberg and the "Impossible Dream".... My favorite team - but I don't think they'll make it, alas.

Regards to All,

Aggie
