I consider the hoary "liberal media" line somewhat ironic in light of the uncritical acceptance of the WMD war marketing line and the triumphalist war coverage up through W's carefully staged carrier landing.

As for "PR offensive", sorry, the official terminology seems to be "public relations campaign", as this fairandbalanced source would have it, anyway:
