I think one of the fallacies of modern politics will be finally put to rest though, and that is that liberals are more compassionate than conservatives.

Remember the glee so many liberals expressed when Rush went deaf? To be fair, they were a minority, but a significant minority...

compassion

I thought compassion with regards to Rush came up when "liberals" were discussing the vehemence with which he advocated long jail terms for drug abusers, while at the same time being one himself. In other words when discussing Rush's lack of compassion -- and hypocrisy.

If you feel compassion about Rush's need to ease his pain by abusing drugs, you ought to feel similar compassion for the vast majority of the drug addicts in this country whose addiction also started because they felt the need to ease overwhelming pain in their lives.

Just google around the internet over the next few months, and read the "schadenfreude"

The left wing site "Indymedia" couldn't wait to jump on Rush. I don't want to get a lot of these kind of posts, there will be a lot of examples. But since this was on the first day, and a good example of what will be said, I thought I would post it. He is "fair game" for it. In the future, when he comes back, expect stories to start out, "Rush Limbaugh, former drug addict"
____________________________________

Rush Limbaugh is going in for detox, the third time. Previously he has gone to the ARI in New York for overnight detox. This time he says he is going in for 30 days (luxurious Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, California?) - and this the guy that said of the ordinary user: "Send them up." Always destructive, even self-destructive (he destroyed his own hearing), Limbaugh has attempted to destroy others for their vices; but he now blames "severe pain in my lower back and also in my neck now due to two herniated discs" and tells us, "I'll be back." It's just a good thing he isn't judging himself as he has judged others - or he would be up the river for a long time.

Compassionate Kerry yucks it up over Rush's drug addiction:

JOHN KERRY, Phoenix Presidential debate: "There are two ways for you to have lower prescription drug costs: one is you could hire Rush Limbaugh's housekeeper or you could elect me president of the United States."

I think one of the fallacies of modern politics will be finally put to rest though, and that is that liberals are more compassionate than conservatives.
