What kind of evidence are you looking for? What do you think Rumsfeld and Saddam talked about in that important meeting in 1983?

I wasn't in the meeting; I have no idea. But purportedly (and I have no information to the contrary) it was to attempt to restore diplomatic relations.

As to what kind of evidence, I'm honestly not "looking" for evidence. But I'm a little sick of unfounded allegations that we sold Saddam WMD. The only PROVEN allegations I've seen are that we sold them certain raw materials for use in various chemical and drug manufacturing processes that were misappropriated for other uses. The most notorious of the allegations I've seen claim that we sold VX Nerve Gas to Saddam; to my knowledge, this is merely hearsay and cannot be substantiated.

It is nothing new for us to provide certain materials and chemicals to countries we consider "friendly". Today, we are undoubtedly sharing a great deal of dangerous technology with Japan, who attacked us just over 60 years ago. The point being that these relationships change over time; how far we're willing to go with given nations is a matter for presidents and Congress to determine.
