Sounds like the local Prosecutor is marginal, and the Defense lawyers are top notch.

You'd expect the local prosecutor to be amateur compared to the best that money can buy, but it's a local jury, and the local prosecutor has the home town advantage.

What they're doing now is trying to freak out the complaining witness and shake down the rest of the crew. Legally, unless the law is very different from the rest of the country, all the judge has to decide is whether there's probable cause to send it to the Grand Jury. That's a no-brainer. He already ruled that the complaining witness doesn't have to testify, which means that he thinks that the case is legally sufficient.

Bryant's lawyers decided to get all the information they could, even if it meant revealing their own strategy.

Which means that they don't have much close to the vest.
