He's right, I deal with Loblaws Companies East, Westfair, SuperStore et al so I'm very familiar with them... they definitely are Canada's largest food distributor.

Actually I didn't think they were bigger than Costco, definitely bigger than Costco Canada, but upon checking I find that Costco as a whole had net sales of $38 billion in 2002 and net income of just under $700 million.... Loblaws had sales of $23 billion, but net income of $728 million.
