FWIW--an update on the blow out on my rental car. Dollar has sent me a bill for it. The good news is that the tire only cost $32.50. The bad news is that they put $32.50 tires on their cars. No wonder it blew.

Haven't decided how to proceed. A bill for $47.51 isn't large enough to be worth a lot of time and energy. The principle may be, though. At the very least I will press for further documentation of their policy and just how and when failure of their product gets to be my problem.

There was also some interesting language in their letter, which begs follow-up. "You should report this to your insurance and/or credit card company immediately to avoid potential loss of benefits."

In any event, when you decline their insurance, it ain't what you think, so beware.
