<<<$87 billion is more than all of the states' current budget deficits, combined.
$87 billion is more than twice the amount we're spending on Homeland Security. >>>
Consider the Manhattan Project. What did that cost in manpower and money when at the time we had a huge deficit?
Move on to Werner Von Braun , the Apollo, and the Man on the Moon project, what did that cost and what were the immediate returns in dollars?
And the Space Station and satellites for numerous uses.
The Atomic bomb has deterred major conflicts for 58 years
The GPS data from satellites permits targeting missiles within inches of a designated site, and saved thousands of innocent Iraqis and utility constructions in that war.
Perhaps we will be able to prevent another 911 event though our ME efforts, that would be worth over $100 bil
Complete the job in Iraq and it will be worth more than all the expense. As with the other programs I mentioned, it is not possible to determine an actual return on investment, nor the monetary value of having a Democracy in the ME..
