religious or quasi-religious

I don't expect Bush to say in a speech "we are a religious or quasi religious nation." That's just too clumsy and too contrived and too pointed. "We are a spiritual nation" has a nice ring to it and it is more accurate and inclusive than "Christian" or "religious." I will expect him to say "spiritual" from now on and I will fuss about it when he doesn't. <g>

I appreciate Professor Tussman's making that point and Neo's serendipitous sharing of it with me and your question which triggered Neo's research, etc. etc. <g>
