Don't you think it is a sad state of the discourse in politics today when what is clearly hyperbole is misconstrued to be hate filled speech? This is just one example of how people with opposing ideological views try to diminish their enemies.

On the one hand, I find it down right silly, but on the other I find it mystifying or insulting that the people who can not understand hyperbole either believe Americans will take it literally or that we are too stupid to recognize it for what it is.

Robertson could have, and probably should have said "They ought to completely scrap the State Department and start over."
