I believe Rush has suggested more stringent laws, so if you agree with Rush you should advocate what Rush advocates. But at this point in time the existing law should be applied.

Most lawyer know that when you speak of the law applied to an individual at a real place an time you are speaking about existing law at that place and time. Applying that law is the rule of law and not what Rush has expressed as an opinion of what the law should be to reflect what Rush believes is justice.

If you ever get around to studying law you may be able to learn the fine points I am making.
