The Iranians saw what happened to Iraq and what didn't happen to North Korea so why should they cooperate on nuclear issues?

As to the Saudi connection to Al-Qaeda that was aimed at the US because the US is in Saudi Arabia. Even if 17% of the oil imported to the US comes from SA it doesn't seem bother the Saudis to support AL-Qaeda. But then again the Saudis know that the US is dependent on their oil.

<very little interest on the part of the Iranians to cooperate with the Europeans on nuclear issues>

Actually, there has been lots of cooperation. The Europeans (Russians, mainly) sell the technology and materials, the Iranians buy it. The Europeans make a profit, the Iranians get the Bomb soon. Everyone's happy with this cooperation. It is way too late to get serious about non-proliferation, they are just going through the motions.
