Agreed - foreign policy and national security policy have to be based on focus, effectiveness and bang for the buck, not ideological crusades that undermine our actual goals. Your summation of how to take the next steps is what I would support, and what I would look for a presidential candidate to support.

I also agree but wonder if the UN would do it. Would they commit the necessary 100-200,000 troops needed? Would they commit the estimated $100 billion?
