I honestly feel bad for him. He got addicted to an extremely addictive drug which he was prescribed. And he has not able to beat the habit. He is human.

As you've made it clear you do not care for Limbaugh, I think it is worthwhile to contrast your feeling about this matter with the perspectives presented by the liberals on this thread, as well as the Al Frankens of the world. I cannot imagine conservatives reveling in the addiction of an Al Franken the way Franken has in Rush's addiction; or Bennett's gambling, whatever.

I suspect Rush has learned some things along the way, which may account for the lessening of the discussion about the subject. Now that you mention it, I do recall the Darrell Strawberry remarks from time to time.

But I think the real measure will be how he deals with it once he comes back. It will be interesting to see what he has to say.

RE:"Few days ago MSNBC show excerpts of his show from 1995. He has said repeatedly that users of all illegal drugs should be locked up and "sent up the river". He said "I know lots of Doctors will disagree with me, but I don't buy this sickness argument. Every time someone consumes illegal drug, they are making a personal choice and should be held accountable for that ... they should be arrested and sent up the river"

Well then, RUsh should do some time, even if it's voluntary.

Mani, And lets be honest about his coming out party, he got caught in the act.

Sometimes it takes getting caught in the act before admitting to a problem. It took a stain on a blue dress before Bill confessed his relationship with Monica. After that, he has three "spiritual advisors" counsel him for a while, including a guy I respect, Tony Campolo.

Ted often brought up the "Cast the first stone" story in the Bible when it came to Bill. I reminded Ted that the story ended with Jesus saying, "Neither do I [condemn you]. Go, and leave your life of sin." Applying this to Rush, we'll see if he does just that.
