That was pretty good LB....<g> Won't it be refreshing when the so-called major media start asking those questions?

Mutt Kampf
"A German man is to appear in court charged with teaching his dog to give the Hitler salute," reports Ananova.com. The 54-year-old man, identified only as Roland T., named den Hund Adolf and taught it to lifts its paw up "straight in the salute on command." Roland T. could face up to three years behind bars for "using symbols of unconstitutional organisations." Adolf, meanwhile, is headed for an animal shelter.

Ananova adds that "Carola Ruff, of the local animal protection organisation, says the dog shouldn't be judged for what its owner taught it." After all, it was just following orders.

Arafat death watch update

The latest stories are a day old, but still fascinating. The old fart does, indeed, appear to be on his last legs.

The US is hoping for removal of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat by a "non-violent" coup presaged by a report suggesting Arafat is so ill he cannot carry out his duties, according to a report in the Saudi newspaper Al Watan.

US officials are already trying to organize a joint Palestinian leadership that would rule until elections are held in the Palestinian Authority, the Saudi paper reported Monday. A translation of the report appeared on the Jordanian website albawaba.com

Go ahead, say it out loud. You know you want to: Albawaba! Albawaba! Albawaba!

The Saudi paper also said Americans are beginning to suggest that Arab leaders and European officials should persuade Arafat to resign and maybe move to an Arab or European country.

Yeah, that's going to happen, because everyone knows that Arafat is the kind of guy who puts his people first, his own needs last.

The paper, citing US, Palestinian and European diplomatic sources, listed potential candidates for the joint leadership of a post-Arafat period, including: former Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, current PM Ahmed Qurei, Former Security Minister Muhammad Dahlan, National Security Advisor Jibril Rajoub and General Intelligence Chief Amin Al Hindi.

Fight! Fight! Let's start a new Dead Pool: The Palestinian Civil War Dead Pool. See if you can predict who's still standing a year from Arafat's deathday.

Palestinian officials have denied reports of any significant deterioration of Arafat's health, and his doctors have been quoted as saying he is recuperating from a severe gastrointestinal virus. Arafat has been reported to be looking in better health at recent public appearances.

Once again, how can you tell when a palestinian spokesperson is lying? Their lips are moving.
