also that Kennedy especially had expressed to friends his desire to get out sometime after the 1964 election.

Kennedy was supposedly planning withdrawal without victory, though his public and private record is an unblemished pattern of denouncing that goal. The removal of those 1000 advisors was a total red herring.

It's the same old story - another liberal trying to preserve Kennedy's image. I especially like him complimenting Kennedy for not invading Cuba in 1962. How very kind of Kennedy! -g-

the overthrow and assassination of South Vietnam’s president Ngo Dinh Diem

You know why Kennedy overthrew Diem? Because Diem was calling for U.S. withdrawal.

President Kennedy’s decision on October 2 to begin the withdrawal of U.S. forces

On Oct 2, Kennedy committed to increasing the U.S. military effort in Vietnam. He also committed to announcing the withdrawal of troops in the future, as long as victory was in sight. No commitment actual withdrawal was made, and more importantly, this was all contingent on victory.

I am not trying to prove Kennedy wasn't killed by right-wing fanatics. My point is just to show how fanatically right-wing the Kennedy haters are. It's kind of like the Neocons who complain that the CIA isn't crazy enough.
