What's a "quasi-fact"?

Oh, I just made that up. I meant "fact like." It was simply a nod to those who have a hobby horse about the reliability of statistical data, of which we have many hereabouts. Statistical data is obviously fact rather than opinion, but since the way questions are asked can distort the facts... Anyhow, that's what I meant by it. I was just trying to obviate a response from someone fussing about "lies, damned lies, and statistics" by acknowledging in advance the problems with statistical data. In retrospect, the latter approach might have been the easier road. <g>

You might find this snippet interesting.

<<Harold Meyerson: There's no doubt that if people their news chiefly from opinion shows, they'll be getting, at absolute minimum, opinionated news, and at maximum, ravings that may have no discernable relation to reality. This is true at any point in the political spectrum, but it's also the case that the right dominates the opinion-show business on both talk-radio and talk-television. If you want liberal television, as the New Yorker's Hendrik Hertzberg has noted, tune in the fiction shows, such as West Wing. >>

The guy has a point of view but seems quite up front about it.
