So Bush calls up Binny, and says if you can take out the Twin Towers, and part of the Pentagon we can take over the world!?

The ultimate "Gulf of Tonkin maneuver, eh?

I think it might be more like Bush taking advantage of bin Laden's crime. And I do think that many in the intelligence community were expecting some kind of airline hijacking blowing up scenario. And Bush was sitting at the end of the intelligence pipeline.

Funny though, when it comes to intelligence matters, Bush seems to be able to interpret them as he sees fit. When you hear of many former and present intelligence people being amazed at some of Bush's statements on WMD and Al Qaeda, it makes you go hmmm. I think he gets it straight, then twists it to fit his agenda. It's the only thing that can make sense out of his actions.
