Is there much of a connection between Hitachi GST and HDS? Would the actions of one division have much influence on the other?

Com' on. Ya gotta tell us - Why? The only thing I have picked up is QLGC reports a good quarter and the price drops in after-hours. People grouse about not be able to understand HK and then the stock recovers the next day or two.

Is the volatility just to give Ze'ev a better trading opportunity?

P.S. I counted 2 "Great Quarter"s, 1 "Good Quarter", and 2 "color"s in the CC yesterday. I was installing software while listening so my counts may not be accurate.

As expected, Hitachi will consolidate the enterprise HDD
businesses. I imagine the largest user of the new HDDs
(with Qlogic controllers) will be IBM. Its a new business
and Hitachi could become a larger customer than Fujitsu in
controllers. The best part of that business is that it is
steady, predictable and not a lot of marketing expenses.
