The low nos. are a result of the media's biased coverage of the situation in Iraq. The public has been fed a "It bleeds, it leads" campaign for the last few months with a bare mention of the successful reconstruction taking place throughout the country. If they were receiving a clearer picture of the actual situation and progress on the ground, the poll nos. would be more positive.

Bush's poll numbers are not great even on Iraq

Hmmmmm...... I quote you verbatim regarding your absolute assertion that,

"There is a huge segment of the population that doesn't
think Bush is making us safer with these flippant wars all
over the world where the US is the sole participant and as
such the sole target for those upset with the situation."

And you provide me with a poll.... Though not obtained
through scientific methods
.....drawn from 1,935
questionnaires presented to U.S. service members
throughout Iraq.... half of those questioned described
their unit's morale as low and their training as
insufficient..... about a third of the respondents
complaining that their mission lacks clear definition and
characterizing the war in Iraq as of little or no value....

This non-scientific poll you provided is somehow an answer
to your assertions about FLIPPANT WARS ALL OVER THE WORLD
where the US is the SOLE PARTICIPANT & that a HUGE segment
of the population firmly holds these beliefs.

Again I ask you, on which planet is this happening?

Disclaimers, disclaimers... I will take the Gallup poll (and it's 90 percent participation rate) from Iraq earlier this week.

Some military experts pointed to good news for the administration in the survey. Military historian Eliot Cohen, who serves on a Pentagon advisory panel, noted that the proportion that said the war was worthwhile -- 67 percent -- and the proportion of troops that said they have a clearly defined mission -- 64 percent -- are "amazingly high." He added that complaints are typical. "American troops have a God-given right and tradition of grumbling," he said.

In the survey, 34 percent described their morale as low, compared with 27 percent who described it as high and 37 percent who said it was average; 49 percent described their unit's morale as low, while 16 percent called it high.
