Good find on the St.Louis link, and I put under the lab tools. The non-financial CP uptick is probably confirming that a little inventory rebuild is underway. I doubt if it amounts to much.

The nine day DST wag withholding numbers are shocking. I can't imagine it's just all statistical noise, as I haven't seen much of anything outside of 5% up or down ever before. The Friday 10/3 to Wed. 10-15 collected was 37,224 versus 42,194 last year Friday 10-4 to Wed. 10/16. That's a 11.8% DROP! That's very unusual, and I can't imagine that it would be anything that bad, so perhaps a four week should be used? Still hard to dismiss, I suspect an October Labor Massacre (telemarketing, mortgage, financial service outsourcing, maybe some major end of 3rd quarter layoffs somewhere) may be underway?
