Brian, just consider what has happened to nearly all high
demand products that have been relocated from the US to
Asian manufacturers....they have all become cheaper... TV's, stereo's, camera's, computers, motherboards, chips,
cars, etc.... When manufacturing costs go down it is expected that prices also will go down.... you are correct demand and availability are critical factors that influence price and profits...

Ridgeland, MS, OCT 17, 2003 (EventX/Knobias.com via COMTEX) --Several stocks in the Semiconductor industry reported earnings late yesterday. Beating consensus estimates were AMD, ATML, BRCM, FCS, XLNX, PMCS, FORM and TXCC. Inline with estimates were CREE, MHCP and RMBS. Missing estimates were PXLW, MIPS, MOSY and SIMG. SoundView downgraded AMD from Outperform to Neutral, while Deutsche upgraded the stock fro Sell to Hold.

AMD's Q3 EPS was (9c) vs (74c) a year ago, beating estimates of (36c). ATML's Q3 EPS was (7c) vs (22c) a year ago, beating estimates of (8c). BRCM's Q3 EPS was (2c) and adjusted EPS was 14c vs (3c) a year ago, beating estimates of 13c. FCS' Q3 EPS was (5c) and adjusted EPS was 5c vs 9c a year ago, beating estimates of 1c. XLNX's Q2 EPS was 16c vs 11c a year ago, beating estimates of 15c. PMCS' Q3 EPS was 2c and adjusted EPS was 0c vs (5c) a year ago, beating estimates of (1c). FORM's Q3 EPS was 7c vs 24c a year ago, beating estimates of 5c. TXCC's Q3 EPS was 3c vs ($1.74) a year ago, beating estimates of (18c). They guided to a Q4 GAAP net loss of (17-18c) below estimates of (14c).

CREE's Q1 EPS was 12c vs 5c a year ago, inline with estimates. MCHP's Q2 EPS was 17c and adjusted EPS was 17c vs 16c a year ago, inline with estimates. They also expect Q3 EPS of 18-19c inline with estimates. RMBS' Q3 EPS was 5c vs 6c a year ago, inline with estimates.

PXLW's Q3 EPS was (9c) and adjusted EPS was 2c vs 4c a year ago, missing estimates of 4c. MIPS' Q1 EPS was (14c) vs (10c) a year ago, missing estimates of (6c). MOSY's Q3 EPS was (1c) vs 9c a year ago, missing estimates of 2c. SIMG's Q3 EPS was (3c) and adjusted EPS was (1c), flat from a year ago, missing estimates of 0c.

Yesterday morning, CY reported Q3 EPS of 12c and adjusted EPS of 8c vs (3c) a year ago, beating estimates of 6c. UTEK reported Q3 EPS of 13c vs (83c) a year ago, beating estimates of 7c.
