There is massive potential mining oversupply of silver and diminishing industrial uses. In fact, despite its designation as "precious", silver is not rare or scarce. that's why it has a very hard job being worth more than $5 an ounce. What's $5? Anything less, they could give it away. > Your hatred of Precious metals that has been used for 4000 years will not change the lure of gold I don't hate precious metals, on the contrary, I have been a gold investor, on and off, for many years. But, I think the game has run its present course. I know all the goldbug stories, in fact, I have used most of them myself at different times. However, I don't have an emotional attachment to any bits of metal or piece of paper. > Might as well accept the fact that we are in a generational gold bull market and we Gold Bugs are not going away! (smile) I seen all the charts including many more than the "experts" have. I have also read all the stories and have heard all the end of the world sermons and I don't believe most of it. I accept the US is in deep doo-doo but my concern is not only with the US but with the world and with life. The world will go on and life will go on. Unless the American people change their political system things there will go from bad to worse. Goldbugs are a fascinating species. They live in permanent gloom, their eyes firmly transfixed to the depression of the 1930s and deluded that the big gold bull market of the late 1970s will return "next year". They read only those stories which support their view of the world and which are composed especially by those so-called Messiahs who make a living by catering for their needs, of which there are many. They also believe that a return to the gold standard is inevitable which, of course, would delight me no end as then every South African would become a multimillionaire. Well, the "bugs" are certainly entitled to their views but I love to tease them --- they are so cute!
