**OT** Hi Gary, Excuse me for being cynical, but I believe that your argument proves that money and brains beats money and no brains. It's still much harder to compete without the money. Having once lived in Oakland, it was difficult to watch the good players as they left for greener pastures once they became free agents. I don't deny the players' right to make what they're worth, but the Yankees spend 4 times what the A's do on salaries. Moreover, I was never able to muster much enthusiasm for rooting for Goliath. It never seemed very sporting to me. vt
