I never knew him personally, but at some point, someone will write a book about what an incredible job Jim Morgan did to build this company into one of the first truly global high tech corporations. Just a wonderful human being, whose character and sense of integrity held many big egos in check for 20 years, for everyone's (customers, employee's and investors) benefit.

Agree one thousand percent.

A few years back when AMAT opened their EPIC Center they had a Java quiz on the website asking 4 questions about it. I knew what the center was and so took the quiz. On one of the questions it told me I was wrong, when I knew I was correct. I took the quiz again and the same result. SO I decided to call the company and let them know that this quiz was not giving correct answers. I felt this to be very important as customers may see this and think AMAT is not detail oriented, an image they could not afford. I called and asked to be put through to IT......one was out to lunch and one was busy. I called several numbers but the time was bad and could not get through to anyone. So I finally decided to be put through to Jim Morgan's voicemail. I left a message saying basically that I thought it was important they address this since it could pose an image problem for them yada yada yada. Within 3 hours I get a call back from someone who worked for him telling me they would address the issue and thanking me for letting them know. I rarely receive call-backs from low level people at most places; I was utterly amazed at the near instant response I received from the CEO of a global Fortune 500 company. I knew then I would be a holder of AMAT for sometime as long as Morgan was part of the company.
