"a handful of doctors have testified she is "vegetative." They claim her expressions and vocalizations are simply reflex actions and she will never regain consciousness"

Clear enough for rational people. Let her die in peace and rest in peace.

It's not hard to understand why people are suspicious of the husband. He may simply have made his peace with it and is ready to move on. Or there may be some evil lurking there. A couple of things give me pause.

One is about the pudding. If eating will cause her to aspirate it and die, then why wouldn't he let them do it behind his back. Either she could swallow, or she would die. Either way, that would be a good thing.

The other is, if the parents are prepared to take her home and care for her, he could divorce her and just let them. It could be that he really believes she wouldn't want that. Or it could be it would cost him the settlement money and he's been after that all along. Or it could be that he really believes there's no hope so why burn up the settlement money when it could compensate him partially for what he's been through.
