Hello ACF Mike, BLS is suspect, that straight line is dubious, recession is apparently not, else nothing is wrong, and so the bad stuff must be still ahead of us, therefore we might do well to not be confused by <<Reality>>, for it could prove cheaper.

Chugs, Jay

P.S. I scrounged up this series on your referenced site:
data.bls.gov
Employment, Hours, and Earnings from the Current Employment Statistics survey (National) SIC
Series Catalog:
Series ID : EEU00500049 (n)

Not Seasonally Adjusted
Industry : Total private
SIC Code : N/A
Data Type : AVERAGE HOURLY EARNINGS, 1982 DOLLARS

... and I conclude that, especially given the understated inflation rates, the nonsensical hedonic adjustments, and the chained dollar data massage, that AVERAGE HOURLY EARNINGS, 1982 DOLLARS has in fact gone absolutely nowhere, relative to debt level.
