<<Bye-Bye To 'Buy American'?>>

Some of this is due to the unions. In '79, Arrow Shirt Company was about 15% off shore. During contract talks Arrow offered about a 3% hike, union wanted much more. Arrow told the union they'd have to go 85% off shore to meet the union's demands and stay competitive. Union said fine, do it.

Caterpillar of Peoria was one of the strongholds of unionism. Back about 19 and 90 the union walked out of talks so Cat told the workers they could have their jobs back or be replaced. So many people showed up for those jobs that most of the Cat guys went back. Starting pay back then for a broom pusher was $18 per hour, medical benefits worth about the same plus a retirement plan that was A-1.

BTW, you still chasing deer wearing 5" pumps?
