re:Its all bull.

Including the part about providing a lot of jobs?

I believe those jobs to be on their way out. When Boeing moved to Chicago, I think that was the signal that they were leaving. It may take 20 years but I bet Boeing eventually will be a thing of the past here in the Puget Sound.

re:Condit is a condom.

That appears to be a really constructive statement. Why so much hate?

Because I think he plays games.........I think he says one thing and thinks another. My attitude was confirmed in two ways......the way he behaved in the HWP merger with Compaq [he was on the HWP board of directors] and by some guys who work at Boeing.

To a man, none had a nice thing to say about Condit; that since he took over BA, there has been more BS than straight shooting. From what I can tell, that opinion is pretty uniform throughout Boeing.

Ans whenever Condit is called on his BS, he blames it on the board. That's why I am glad at the negative reaction to comment from Mulally on WA state's biz climate comment. That was Condit speaking through Mulally. I think its time to wean ourselves of Boeing.

re:Boeing is one of the worst managed businesses in the country. Its margins stink up the joint.

Perhaps true, however they somehow managed to outperfom the company I worked for once - McDonnell Douglas.

That's cause McDonnell made a lot of mistakes. Let me give you an idea how BA's margins stack against the industry average.......the average, not the leaders.

BA's Gross Margin is 13% vs the industry average's 16%. Operating Margin is 2.19% vs the indus. ave. of 4.59%. And catch this one..........its profit margin is POINT 57% vs 2.33% for the industry......that's pitiful!

To add to the misery, its return on equity....always important to shareholders.......is a miserable 3.38% vs the ave. of 6.13%. Neither number is good but BA's is half the industry ave. As an example, a good number is 17%.

So all I can say is McDonnell Douglas must have been a real dog. Did you say you were CEO of McDonnell? <g>
