It doesn't say whether they are paid or not, but seems to be more of an apprentice relationship. Since they (the Amish) have agreed to cooperate with safety laws, I don't see the problem, though it seems child labor opponents still do.

Well, we let children drive at 15-16 and some inevitably get in fatal traffic accidents too. Not sure I am sold by that argument.
I just read about the denial of Last Rites to Terri Schiavo. The inability of people to compromise, or to stand down for an empathetic moment, makes me feel so hopeless and helpless. There is another excellent article posted by Kholt on the Politics for Pros thread about why the suit about Under God in the pledge may be a poor choice of issues in the greater picture. We seem to have such poor judgment about not necessarily the battles, but the way in which we conduct them.
