There are many who conveniently want to forget this part, Hawk.

Indeed.. But since this is not the kind of war that jibes with the ones we've fought before such as WWII, WWI, Korea, or even Vietnam, where in all instances installed governments agressed against another nation, it not easy to readily "package" it as a national war of survival..

But it's a war, nonetheless.. All we've done is taken pre-emptive action in an effort to prevent what seemed to be an inevitable course to global conflagration we were heading to.

Peace, thankfully, has a certain inertia.. Despite the unmitigated attack upon the US on 9/11, this nation still prefers to think about normality and "just getting along" with the rest of the world.

The problem is that a well financed and organized minority of militants have some other ideas. Their premature aggression upon the homeland of the United States is proving to be their undoing... That is, unless we all permit ourselves to hide our heads back under our pillows and hope this nightmare never happens again.
