Jesus never used hellfire and brimstone, he was a man of peace and tolerance. You must be thinking of the anti-Christ, a figure who would indeed promote war, greed, intolerance and turning on each other hatefully. I fear the right-wing Christians have become exactly what they preach against, more like the Taliban than any civil religious group.
