He is saying, Jews today have an influence in the world, far out of proportion to their numbers. Which is true.

Jacob, the man said or implied nothing as innocent as you suggest. You are putting words in his mouth which he did not mean.

Fact: He said that Europeans killed six million Jews out of 12 million. But today the Jews rule this world by proxy.
Fact: He said Jews get others to fight for them.
Fact: He said that 1.3 billion Muslims canot be defeated by a few million Jews if the Muslims used their brains.

What do I get from this?

That Muslims feel oppressed by Jews, which is silly.
That Jews control the US, which is laughable.
That Muslims are at war with Jews and should follow the example of Europeans who killed 6 million Jews.

If you can get past your reflexive defensiveness, and read what he is actually proposing, it is in Israel's interest. He wants a compromise peace, and an end to terrorism and violence. He wants all Muslim nations to re-direct their efforts, towards peaceful economic development.

Jacob, he said, quote-unquote, that Jews rule the world by proxy and get others to die for them. I think it is you who have not been reading carefully. Have you ever any of read The Protocols of the Elders of Zion? Same theme song.

Even Mahathir's recommendations for Muslim reform, which ought to be promising, are not, because they are still all answering the wrong questions - "how do we get back at the bastards who did this to us? how do we fight the world that is ruled by Jews and is at war with us Muslims?" While you have to call it a step in the right direction that he doesn't endorse OBL's recipe of blowing up skyscrapers, he is still asking the wrong questions, and so will get to the wrong answers. There is no Jewish cabal that rules the US. The world is not at war with Muslims, especially in Malaysia.

What Malaysia is susceptible to is the whims of the electronic herd (as Tom Friedman calls it), the global investment community. But the electronic herd could care less whether they are investing in Muslim Malaysia or Buddhist Thailand; they just want a return on their money. If Mahathir cannot diagnose what Malaysia is suffering from, how can he improve matters?

What the Muslim world does suffer from is economic dysfunction and chronic misrule. But no oppressor "did" this to them. Colonialism ended long ago and is pretty old as an excuse. The Muslim world is suffering from self-imposed problems - the oil states can't even use poverty as an excuse - and they will never, ever, begin to improve until they start asking the right question, which is, "how do we reform?"
