How can that happen?

It was a terrible event, striking terror in his heart as he had to fly out of town this afternoon and had nothing to take except some strange tome about Rome he found leftover under the bed. He is very disciplined and keeps his stack of unread books under control unlike you and me.
He bought only three yesterday and I bought twelve. His look deadly: one is about the Japanese documents leading into WWII and one is about Munich and its importance to Hitler. I don't remember the third. I might have fallen asleep reading the title. Or maybe the words were too big.

Mine are exciting! There were lots on the 1 and 2 dollar shelf. Good authors, too. Sue Miller, Doris Lessing, a book on women's influence in literature....
