No doubt that was one of many studies and perspectives. Equally unlikely is that no matter what happened, the New York Times would cite sources that, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, might at first blush make the Bush Administration look bad.

I'm not satisfied that the NYT has cleaned up its own internal affairs yet. Until it scours itself of scandalous falsehoods and their sources, the NYT has no business reporting on matters that cause us to pass judgment on others.
