I really wish the media would cut the whole "mandate" crap. We have a winner-take-all system. That means you win the office, and you either manage to push through your political agenda, or you get defeated. I've always cringed at the whole "mandate" idiocy, wherever it is applied. You want a mandate? Go live under a parliamentary system.

Kurtz writes about what we've seen here on SI in various places. Thank goodness people on this and on FL's thread have higher personal standards than does some of the media...even the so-called responsible media.

BTW, I see that Chait is 31 years old, so born about 1972. Yep, that's a lot of worldly experience, alright.
