C2, I read it the first time around. It is an act of intolerance and anti-semitism at an official state level, committed in front of an international audience. The fact that it suggests cunning and cold planning instead of other methods just does not make it any less despicable. Yet another final solution in the making? I just cant get it. Live close to Dachau where Santayana's sentence greets you at the entrance:"People who forget their own history, are bound to repeat it..."

I guess I'll need to deal with my cognitive dissonance first.

Mahathir's speech really is kind of moderate - in a crazy sort of a way. Makes me think that we are already living in a world where civilizations are in a clash, and we are just not fully aware of it yet. I hope I'm overreacting.

...What a paragraph!

We are actually very strong. 1.3 billion people cannot be simply wiped out. The Europeans killed six million Jews out of 12 million. But today the Jews rule this world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them.

(Times change. Not all that long ago it used to be the British Intelligence who would be behind all important world events)

And that's how the modern world came about, and here's how it is structured:

...But think. We are up against a people who think. They survived 2000 years of pogroms not by hitting back, but by thinking. They invented and successfully promoted Socialism, Communism, human rights and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so they may enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries and they, this tiny community, have become a world power.

I find intriguing Dr. Mahathir's frequent use of the term "Jahilliah" (the ignorant). Sayyid Qutb, the chief theoretician of modern Islamic extremism, often uses this term in relation to Muslims who have lost their purity, their "true vision" - in other words, to "moderates".
