IMO, it is the same reason you can't just make copies of someone elses best seller, and sell it to bookstores or retail them yourself (outside of the copyright). The same reason, you can't burn CDs or DVDs of top albums or movies, and sell them yourself at a discount. The same reason, you can't just take the feed from the pro football games, and sell it to cable companies at a discount (skipping license fees from the NFL).
