Using that argument alone would mean the immediate removal of all polygamy restrictions.

The State has always held the right to make your marriage legal or not. The argument used on it is "are you willing to allow incest, etc?" The vast majority of people are not willing. So once you allow the state's nose under the tent, it gets down to, "How much and what kind of control should the state have over the marriage vow?"
